About GC A

The Asylum Seekers Health Centre (GC A) offers quality healthcare to asylum seekers. We strive to provide a uniform quality of care in order to treat every asylum seeker at every GC A location in the same way. A GC A location can be found at or nearby every Asylum Seekers Centre, at a total of around 50 locations.

In January 2009, the COA gave Menzis, an insurancecompany  the assignment (awarded a contract) to organise the medical care of asylum seekers. Menzis organised this, both legally and organisationally, independent from the activities of the insurance companies. Care for asylum seekers by the GC A, which falls under the Menzis Zorgaanbod (MEZ) holding.

Asylum seekers are often vulnerable people in uncertain situations. That influences their request for care. The GC A makes sure that good family doctor care is always nearby and easy to access for all asylum seekers. Just like the care is there for every Dutch person. Only with extra attention for the language and culture differences, the asylum seeker's living situation, the procedure for asylum and the special care needs of the asylum seeker.
